Padel on the Gold Coast — where to play, and where to get your gear

Every padel court on the Gold Coast, who is opening next, and a padel shop you can actually collect from. We are at Pacific Fair in Broadbeach, about ten minutes from the courts at Carrara and Robina.

Australian Padel Shop · Venue list checked 15 September 2026 · Spotted something we have wrong? Tell us and we will fix it

Two years ago the Gold Coast had one padel venue. As this is written there are three places to play and at least five more being built, which makes this one of the fastest-growing padel markets in the country. This page keeps track of both halves of that: where the courts are, and where to get a racket without waiting a week for it to arrive from Sydney. Each venue has its own page with hours, booking, coaches and prices — follow the links.

Courts open right now

Padel Gold Coast, at KDV Sport — Carrara

221 Nerang Broadbeach Rd, Carrara QLD 4211. Six floodlit outdoor courts, open 5:30am to 10pm daily and booked through the Matchi app. The Gold Coast's original padel venue, our founder's home club, and the coast's deepest coaching bench — the head coach is also Australia's national coach. Pro shop and cafe on site. About ten minutes from Pacific Fair. Carrara in detail →

Racquet Club — Robina Town Centre

Lot 23 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina QLD 4226. Opened 1 September 2026 with seven open-air padel courts alongside six pickleball courts, plus a pro shop, bar, cafe, showers and recovery facilities. Open 5am to 11pm daily, booked through Playtomic, with coaching, social competitions and racquet rental if you are just trying it. The biggest racquet-sports venue on the coast, about ten minutes from us. Robina in detail →

House of Pickle — Currumbin Waters

21 Wheeler Crescent, Currumbin Waters QLD 4223. Primarily a pickleball venue — three indoor courts — with one indoor padel court attached. Paddle hire is $5, bookings through PodPlay, open 7am to 10pm seven days. The only indoor padel court on the Gold Coast until Arundel opens, which makes it the wet-weather option and the nearest court to Tweed Heads. Currumbin and the Tweed in detail →

Getting coached at one of these clubs? Ask your coach for a discount code. Most of the coaches we work with have one: you get 5% off anything you buy with it, and your coach is paid 5% of what you spend — so the person who taught you actually gets something back when you take their advice on a racket. If your coach hasn't been issued a code yet, ask them to email hello@australianpadelshop.com and we will set one up. It takes five minutes, costs them nothing, and there is no stock to hold. Full details on the coaches and community page.

The one tournament worth putting in your diary

Padel at the Pan Pacific Masters Games runs 13–15 November 2026 at KDV Sport in Carrara — men's, women's and mixed doubles across 35+, 45+ and 55+ brackets. Open entry, no ranking required, and you are playing people your own age. Entries close 16 October 2026.

It is the most accessible real tournament in the country and it happens on our doorstep. If you have been playing socially for six months and wondered whether you are ready, this is the one.

Which brands to buy where

Worth knowing before you go shopping, because nobody else will tell you.

Every club pro shop buys through its own wholesale account, which means it goes deep on one or two brands rather than wide across the market. Which brands depends entirely on the club — around Australia you will find adidas, Bullpadel, Head, Wilson and StarVie clubs, and plenty that do not publish what they carry at all.

If the brand you want is the one on your club's wall, buy it there. You get to pick the racket up and hit with it before you pay, and no website can compete with that.

We range the five that most club shops don't: Babolat, NOX, Siux, Tecnifibre and Dunlop — with the manufacturer's full specification published on every frame, so you can compare shape, weight, balance, core and face material properly instead of guessing.

Between a club pro shop and this site a player can get to more or less any racket made. Start wherever the brand you want lives.

A padel shop on the Gold Coast

We are an online shop, run out of Broadbeach, with a counter you can collect from. There is no showroom and no demo rackets — we will not pretend otherwise — but there is a real place with real people behind it, which is more than most online padel retailers can say.

If you want to hit with a racket before you buy it, the honest answer is a club. Racquet Club at Robina rents racquets, House of Pickle hires paddles for $5, Ace Padel on the Sunshine Coast does demo rackets at $20 a game, and most clubs run social sessions where you can borrow one. Do that first, then come to us knowing what you like.

What to buy before your first session

If a club has lent you a racket twice and you are now going regularly, these are the three things worth owning. Prices below are live from our shelf.

A racket that suits a beginner — round or hybrid head, soft core, under 365g. Spend $140 to $250; you will learn more from six months on a cheap frame than from any amount of reading, and what a padel racket costs in Australia explains the bands.

Balls, an overgrip and a frame protector. The protector goes on before your first hit, not after the first scrape — padel is played against glass, and the walls eat naked frames.

A wristband, in summer. Not a fashion item in Queensland humidity — a sweaty hand is the number one reason a grip goes slick, and it costs less than a can of balls.

Coming to padel from tennis?

Most Gold Coast players are. The racket is shorter and heavier than it looks, the ball is softer, the walls are in play and the serve is underarm. Padel vs tennis covers what carries over and what you have to unlearn — worth four minutes before your first session.

Coaching on the Gold Coast?

We run a referral programme for coaches and social organisers: your player gets 5% off and you are paid 5% of what they spend, tracked automatically. Nothing to hold, nothing to sell. Details on the coaches and community page.

Playing further afield?

We ship Australia-wide from Broadbeach, and South East Queensland is the easy part — Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast are both usually next-day on standard post for orders placed before the 1pm cut-off, and the same free shipping over $99 applies. South of the border, the next courts are at Coffs Harbour.
