adidas Match Light 2026 Padel Racket

The adidas Match Light 2026 is the lightest and least expensive adidas racket we sell — a 345–360g beginner frame in what adidas call an “allround” shape: not quite round, not quite teardrop, with the balance a touch towards the head and the sweet spot in the middle of the face. Fibreglass face, fibreglass frame, soft EVA core. It exists so that a new player, a lighter-built adult or a junior stepping up to a full-size racket can get the three stripes for $159 and not fight the racket while they learn.

How it actually plays. Padelful's panel scored it 6.1/10 (May 2026): manoeuvrability 7.0, control 6.6, power 6.1, rebound 5.6, sweet spot 5.0. Their read is fair and worth hearing before you buy — light and comfortable, a medium-soft forgiving response, clean ball exit in defence, but limited attacking power, a small sweet spot once you get off-centre, and overheads that need decent technique. It is a starter racket that is kind to the arm, not a racket that hides a mishit. For comparison, the standard-weight Match 2026 scored 7.9 with Padel Racket Lab, whose panel rated its forgiveness and comfort highly — the extra 15g does the stabilising.

Where it sits. This is the entry point of the adidas range: below the round Drive ($169) and the intermediate RX Series Light ($189). The other light beginner rackets on our wall are the Babolat Counter Origin (round) and the Babolat Air Origin (teardrop) — both a little dearer, both with a bigger effective sweet spot in testing.

Is this the racket for you?

• Yes if you are starting out, you want the lightest racket that still feels solid, and comfort and price matter more than power. A good first racket for a smaller player, a teenager moving off a junior frame, or anyone whose elbow complains.
• No if you are a bigger or stronger beginner — the standard Match or the Drive will feel more planted — or if you already play regularly, where the RX Series is the better $30 spent.
