Hesacore padel grips in Australia — what they are and how to choose one
A Hesacore is not an overgrip. It is a replacement for the base grip your racket came with: you take the original off the bare handle and slide the Hesacore on in its place, using the plastic strips supplied in the box — no glue, a couple of minutes. The surface is moulded into a patented pattern of hexagonal cells that matches the anatomy of the hand, guides your fingers into the same position every time you pick the racket up, and spreads the contact area across the handle — Hesacore measure 8–14% more grip surface than a conventional round grip. The point is that you stop squeezing. A relaxed hand means a relaxed forearm: less fatigue over a long match, less shock travelling up into the wrist and elbow, and a grip that still holds when your hands are wet on a humid Gold Coast evening. It is not a treatment for anything; it is a handle that asks less of your hand. Made in Italy from a recyclable silicone blend.
Which size
Hesacore sizes are the thickness of the grip material, and the right one recreates the handle thickness you already play with rather than sizing you up. Hesacore's own size guide goes by what you play with now: if your grip feels too big for your hand, take Extra Small (1.0mm); if it suits your hand with one overgrip, Small (1.5mm); if you use two overgrips or it feels a little small, Medium (2.0mm), the thickest size we stock. No grip to go by? Measure from the tip of your middle finger to your wrist: under 18cm is Extra Small, 18–19cm Small, 19–20cm Medium. Same thickness you know, with a better shape underneath it.
Which version
Every Hesacore shares the same hexagonal shape; only the feel changes. Original is the reference model — the balance point between direct feel and comfort, and the one Hesacore tell retailers to start people on. Gel is the softest grip Hesacore make: a gel layer that moulds to the hand and cushions every contact, and the one Hesacore's own retailer guide sends anyone dealing with elbow pain or vibration straight to. Carbon is the firm one — carbon filaments through the grip make the handle noticeably stiffer, so you feel more of the ball and absorb more of it too. Pink sits alongside the Original on feel and, at 1.0mm, is the thinnest Hesacore made.
Do you still need an overgrip?
Optional. Most players run the Hesacore on its own or with one thin overgrip over the top; the overgrip adjusts thickness and adds sweat absorption, and costs you a little of the hexagonal texture in exchange. If you play outdoors in Queensland in summer, try it bare first and add an overgrip if your hand slips. Your grip may arrive in Hesacore's pickleball-branded packaging — padel and pickleball handles are identical and it is the same grip. Grips, overgrips and how they fit together →
